GOLFERS from around the Western Division and beyond are gearing up for an exciting weekend of competition at the FSC Ba Golf Club, which will host two major tournaments this weekend.

The two-day event is proudly sponsored by Anita Persaud and Tiffany in memory of the late Mr and Mrs Gopal, a family well-known for their long-standing support of golf in Ba.

This Saturday, the club will stage the 2-Men Ambrose Tournament, with an entry fee of $50 per team, which also includes an afternoon social. Registration opens at 1pm, and tee-off is scheduled for 1.30pm.

Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 teams along with novelty prizes. The format of play will require each team to take six compulsory tee shots.

On Sunday, the course will come alive again for the Diwali Open, a special event that celebrates the festival of lights through sport and fellowship.

Entry for this tournament is $30 per player, covering both lunch and the afternoon social. Registration begins at 10am, and tee-off is at 10.30am.

Prizes will be awarded across all grades, including novelties and giveaways, with the format set as Individual Stroke Play.

Tournament director Rohit Chandra said preparations were in progress for what promises to be one of the most enjoyable weekends in the club’s calendar.

“We’re looking forward to two great days of golf and community spirit. The tournaments will not only bring together regular members and new players but also celebrate the legacy of the Gopal family, who have been true supporters of golf in Ba,” Chandra said.

He said both events would provide a good mix of competition and camaraderie.

“The 2-Men Ambrose is always fun and team-oriented, while the Diwali Open gives players a chance to test their individual skills. We’re expecting a strong turnout, especially with social activities included,” he said.
