Despite the drizzling rain, about 80 participants took part in the Merchants Finance Golf Tournament at the Fiji Golf Course in Vatuwaqa.

Despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions, golfers from various organizations came together to showcase their skills in the 18-hole stroke game.

Representing the British High Commission, Steve Slater commented on the competition, noting that even with the rain, the tournament was still able to proceed.

He highlighted the enthusiasm of the golfers who braved the weather to participate and enjoy the sport.

“The competition is good, with a little rain, we still managed to play golf,” said Slater.

“It is an 18-hole stroke game which is great to see, other golfers coming out to enjoy themselves and participate in the competition.

“Looking at some good golfers there, so competition will be tough and it’s good to see everyone coming to enjoy the sport.”

Sponsorship chairman of Fiji Golf Club, Mohammed Buksh, expressed his satisfaction with the turnout and the level of competition. He said despite the changing weather, the golfers remained determined to play and have a good time on the course.

Buksh extended his gratitude to Merchant Finance for sponsoring the tournament and making it possible for the golfers to come together for this event.
