THE eight-member Fiji Golf team to the 2015 South Pacific Games is aiming to win three gold medals when the competition tees off in July.

The team which has been preparing for over a year now is being coached by Graeme Bell and have taken part in many tournaments in order to finetune their performances.

Team Manager Ofakilomaloma Swann said the team was preparing well and looking forward to the Games.

“The team has been together for over a year now and their performances over the tournaments has been pleasing,” Swann said.

“We are looking at winning three gold medals at the games and I believe we should achieve that with the team we have selected.

“We also hope to improve on our Oceania ranking as well as individual ranking at the upcoming games.”

Swann also highlighted the impact of a full-time coach had made on the team.

“Graeme Bell has done a wonderful job in coaching the team so far and they are learning from him fast. First time ever that we have a full-time dedicated coach with us,” Swann added.

“At the beginning of our preparation we had some discipline and commitment problems but as the team combined together it has improved and the players are focused now.

“We also had mental stress training for the team which I believe has paid dividends.”
