YOU are ordained by God to lead.

President of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma Reverend Dr Semisi Turagavou made the remark during the church service for the newly installed Tui Ba, nai Taukei Nawaiviluri, Ratu Sowani Cava yesterday.

The chiefly title had been left vacant for some years after the passing of the late Marama Na Tui Ba Adi Laite Koroirua in 2017.

The event brought together villagers of Nailaga and those from the province of Ba, who stood ready to serve their chief.

The installation ceremony began with a church service at the Mary Ballantine Memorial Chapel at 10am, with the bati (traditional warriors) escorting Ratu Sowani to the entrance of the chapel.

From the entrance, Mr Turagavou led the solemn procession inside the church to offer his blessings to the Godly-appointed chief.

Mr Turagavou said there were people in church and those who were not present that would not believe that Ratu Sowani was ordained by God, adding that their decision to concur will not stop God’s ordained leader in Ratu Sowani.

Meanwhile, Ratu Sowani made a promise to his people that he would serve them with diligence, dignity and honour.

A thanksgiving church service will be held today (Sunday) to acknowledge the Lord Almighty for the successful traditional chiefly installation ceremony.
