The NewWorld Suva Netball Association weekly competition has reached its seventh round and certain teams are standing out for their performances.

Former national netball rep Vasiti Vugakoto has been impressed with the performance of the girls in the competition.

She believes that the growth of Suva netball is crucial for selecting future Fiji Pearls players.

Vugakoto’s own club, Lomaiviti, has the largest number of clubs in the competition with a total of 17 clubs and 220 members.

As the president of her club, she is focused on not just winning the competition but also on teaching the girls the sport so that they can potentially represent Fiji in the future.

“The competition this year has been tough, with many girls from different teams showing significant improvement and dedication to the sport,” said Vugakoto.

Vugakoto emphasises the importance of nurturing young talent and providing opportunities for players to showcase their skills, especially with the U21 players also participating in the competition.

“Suva Netball has a history of producing future Fiji Pearls players, and this year I am excited to see the under 21 players getting a chance to show their talent.”

She is optimistic about the competition and hopes that all teams will compete with good sportsmanship.
