GOSPEL High School is heading to its first ever Vodafone Super Deans semi-final after a dominant display in the under-15 quarter-finals yesterday.

The Samabula-based school stunned Ratu Kadavulevu School 12-7 in a tight encounter at Bidesi Park in Suva.

It’s almost like a fairytale run for Gospel, having fought their way from zone to finish third, survived a gruelling playoffs match in Labasa and is now well on its way to the semi-finals next weekend.

“We prepared well for the past two weeks. We went to Labasa came back and we just played clean and hard rugby. We were in tier 2, came up to tier 1, went through the playoffs and now we are here in the semis next week, head coach Epineri Koroiveibau shared.

This is a new chapter for Gospel as it heads to uncharted waters.

“Yeah we know that this is part of RKS’s culture, coming into the Deans quarters and semis but we told our boys that they can also do that as long as we train hard, play hard and enjoy ourselves.

“Support from the school, parents and ex scholars has been overwhelming for us so we are just grateful for the bunch of teachers coaching, we have worked hard in order for the boys to play the type of rugby that they displayed against RKS,” he added.

In other U15 results, Queen Victoria School defeated Natabua High School 12-0, Suva Grammar School thumped Holy Cross College 37-5 and Marist Brothers High School beat Sigatoka Methodist 17-13.
