Fiji’s inaugural reggae music festival is shaping up to be a big one.

The 2022 Fiji Gold Reggae Festival this Saturday will feature Ouvacast – the only group from Nadi, Native Vibrations, 4 Quarters, Sweet Sensation, 9pm Band, Rhapsody, Rhythms FJ, DJ Christonite and Navua-based outfit, Bitz n Pieces.

Bitz n Pieces leader Moji Mistry said his gang has been preparing for the show for the past few months.

“We have played at a few big events like the Uprising Music Festival and Kulturefest in Lautoka, but everyone is looking forward to this show because it is the first real big reggae festival in Fiji,” he said.

“Bitz N Pieces has been together for the past five years and even though we are based in Navua, we have performed at venues across Fiji.

“We have an exciting set list with a good mix of old and new hits to cater for all age groups.

“So whether you’re into old school reggae or something a bit more modern, we will have a song for you.”

Mistry said they were also bringing former Exodus front-man Freddy Moore as a guest artist. Moore led Exodus, one of Fiji’s first reggae bands, in the early ’80s.

The group had huge success with their original compositions including ‘Monkey Man’ and ‘Fantasy’.

The 2022 Fiji Gold Reggae Festival will be held this Saturday at Buckhurst Bidesi Grounds, Suva. The Fiji Times is a sponsor of the event.
