The Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) has endorsed the GCC China tour report and the Rewa Province will be used as a pilot province for some of the best practices brought back by the visit.

This was one of the decisions made by the members following the two-day GCC meeting which ended yesterday.

GCC chair Ratu Viliame Seruvakula said all members had agreed and would be working with the Roko Tui Dreketi Ro Teimumu Kepa to implement the plans.

The GCC also endorsed a memorandum of understanding to be signed with King Aotearoa, Tuheitia Potatau Te Wherowhero VII, in consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Among other things the chiefs also endorsed the update of the iTaukei Land Trust Board to review outdated legislations that will help with poverty alleviation.

It accepted an update from the iTaukei Trust Fund on the Vale ni Bose complex in Nasese (GCC complex) that caught fire.

Work has started on the building and it is expected to reopen before mid 2025.
