FIJI Sports Council CEO Gilbert Vakalalabure has confirmed the participation of the Fiji Airways Fiji men’s 7s team for the FSC Grassroots 7s competition which is scheduled for next week at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

Vakalabure made the announcement yesterday during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Agriculture Marketing as the tournament backers for the FSC Grassroots 7s tournament.

He added that the tournament will serve as the final selection ground for Fiji 7s head coach Osea Kolinisau to name his final team to the upcoming Dubai 7s legs.

“With the funding that you given to us today sir our beginning of the tournament will begin next week, and we are working towards that.

“This sevens competition will give the opportunity to the Fiji rugby union to select their best team that goes to Dubai,” said Vakalalabure.

The tournament will have 16 teams competing, an exciting opportunity for 15 local teams to battle our national team.

Teams confirmed so far for the tournaments are Fiji 7s, Dominion Brothers and the FSC Grassroots 7s team.

The final details of the tournament will be released by the Fiji Sports Council in due course.
