THE pieces of the puzzle for the growth of the FIJI Water Flying Fijians are falling into place as they advance onward into the future as a tier one team.
Holding a title as such comes with the expectation of being at their very best in various aspects of the game and Fiji Rugby Union chairman John Sanday is fully aware of that.
With their Pacific Nations Cup finale clash against Japan slated for this Sunday at Salt Lake City, Utah in the United States, Sanday says their progress has been commendable.
“I think that’s all coming together well, so it looks good. It’s all part of the build-up towards the Rugby Nations Championship next year and also the (Rugby) World Cup 2027 in Australia,” he said.
“So we want to have depth in each position, the development of our younger players so it’s all happening, it’s a good sign.”
And with optimism being breathed into the team, he said their progress and continued upward performance should be seen as a reassuring display of what’s to come.
“It’s something that we should continue to be reassured of and take comfort in,” he said.
“During this journey, we’ll obviously have a bad day and that’s bound to happen but overall, the trend is you can see the pathway that we’re going on.
“You can see the pathway that we’re moving into and that’s reassuring, and I commend the coaching staff for that.”
He acknowledged the entire team of players for their continued efforts towards elevating the team’s growth even further.
“I commend the captain and the players, for sticking to the game plan and the game structure and the system that we want to play.
“So I think it’s good, it’s just another step in the journey that we’re taking.”
The Flying Fijians, meanwhile, face Japan at 1.35pm this Sunday at the America First Field.
