GREAT start from the defending champions Suva in the opening match of the Extra Futsal Inter-District Championship 2025, as they secured a dominant 6-1 victory over Nasinu at the Vodafone Arena in Suva yesterday.
Suva came out strong in the first half, taking a commanding 4-0 lead.
The team showed great teamwork and determination on the pitch, with both defense and offense working seamlessly together.
Head coach Vivek Nadan was pleased with the performance of his players, noting that the first game is always crucial for setting the tone for the rest of the tournament.
“The boys performed well in this first game, first game is always important, it gives us the motivation to go through the next match,” said Nadan.
Nadan emphasised the importance of maintaining communication and solid defense, which proved to be effective in the second half as Nasinu put up a strong challenge.
“The team worked together in the first half getting the lead 4-0, my message to the boys was simple to push with defense and to talk to each other while playing.
“Nasinu gave us a good game, we the pressured us in the second half, but im grateful for the boys for pushing through till the end.”
Looking ahead, Nadan acknowledged the tough challenge that awaits them in their next match against Ba.
He expressed confidence in his team’s ability to remain consistent and defend their title, emphasising the importance of staying focused and continuing to work together as a unit.
As defending champions, Suva is well aware of the expectations and pressure that come with the title.
