LACK of teamwork proved to be costly for the Rakiraki team in their opening match against Tailevu Naitasiri in the Extra Futsal Inter-District Championship (IDC) held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva yesterday.
Despite scoring two goals in the second half by players Malakai Lavacake and Elvis Raju, Tailevu Naitasiri dominated most of the game.
Coach and player Kavinesh Prasad expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance, stating that it was a tough first game.
He highlighted the lack of teamwork and confidence among the players as key factors in their defeat.
“It was a tough first game for our side, the boys really lack team work and confidence in the match,” said Prasad.
“First half we was down 4-0, my message to the boys was to keep with our defence and work as a team, Tailevu Naitasiri worked as a team and got their win.”
Prasad emphasized the importance of learning from their mistakes and improving for their upcoming matches.
He acknowledged the competition would not be easy and that facing strong teams required the Rakiraki team to step up their game.
“We will go back to our drawing board and improve on areas, it was a disappointing start, but it’s always sure to go back and work on our mistakes and come stronger jn our second match.
“We know coming in the competition wont be easy, we will face good teams, and we hope to do well also.” The team aims for exposure.
