A full emergency was declared at Christchurch International Airport this afternoon for an incoming Fiji Airways flight, New Zealand Herald has reported.
Emergency services, including Fire and Emergency New Zealand, ambulance crews, and airport staff, were placed on high alert as the situation unfolded.
The aircraft involved is believed to be Fiji Airways flight FJ450, which departed Christchurch bound for Nadi.
According to flight tracking data, the plane took off normally but was seen circling the airport several times before attempting to land.
