Motorists across Fiji will be paying significantly more for fuel from midnight tonight following the approval of new fuel prices that take effect on June 1.
The latest prices show sharp increases across all major fuel products, with diesel and motor spirit recording the biggest jumps.
Motor spirit (petrol) will rise by 80 cents per litre, increasing from $3.13 to $3.93 per litre.
Diesel users will face a 76-cent increase, with the price climbing from $3.82 to $4.58 per litre.
Premix will increase by 29 cents per litre, moving from $2.98 to $3.27, while kerosene will rise by 14 cents from $2.99 to $3.13 per litre.
The increases come amid ongoing volatility in global fuel markets and a prolonged fuel supply crisis that has already placed pressure on households, businesses and transport operators.
The latest adjustment means motorists filling a standard 50-litre vehicle tank with motor spirit will pay approximately $40 more than before, while diesel vehicle owners will face an increase of about $38 per tank.
The higher fuel prices are expected to flow through to transport costs and operating expenses for businesses, adding further pressure to consumers already grappling with rising electricity costs and inflation.
The new fuel prices become effective from midnight tonight and will remain in force until the next review.
