The Fiji Secondary School Rugby Union could be forced to look at alternative venues for the Vodafone Deans final on August 23.

The Deans final will be held a week before the World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup match between the FIJI Water Flying Fijians and Tonga on August 30.

Given the current state of the HFC Bank Stadium and the directive from the Prime Minister for the Ministry of Youth and Sports to get the ground fixed before the PNC match, there is a high chance the stadium will be closed for maintenance.

This would mean that the FSSRU will have to look at other venues to hold the final of Fiji’s biggest secondary schools’ rugby competition.

FSSRU vice president development Biu Colati said the response regarding the matter from the Fiji Sports Council is not sitting right with them.

“FSC told me that they will confirm with us if the ground will be available for the Deans final.

“That is not working well with us, so we are looking for alternative venues,” he said.

As of now, the respective zones will be hosting their finals on their own grounds.

The national quarter-finals set for August 9 will be held at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

The semi-finals are scheduled to be held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on August 16.
