The Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) has launched a call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) to develop a new, state-of-the-art sugar mill in Fiji.
The public advertisement released yesterday states the mill will have a crushing capacity of 10,000 tonnes of cane per day.
The location of of the new mill is not stated in the advertisement, however government has undertaken to build a new mill in Rakiraki.
According to the public notice issued by FSC, the project aims to attract qualified and experienced investors, developers, sugar technology providers, and strategic partners.
The proposed facility is set to include high-tech processing lines, auxiliary plants, and advanced by-product utilisation systems aimed at boosting energy and agricultural sustainability.
The new sugar complex will feature main workshop facilities, including weighbridge, pretreatment, crushing, processing, crystallisation, drying, and packaging operations.
The auxiliary infrastructure to be built are boiler house, co-generation power plant, repair workshops, labs, warehouses, and pumping stations.
The sugar factory will have by-products utilisation of molasses for ethanol and sustainable aviation fuel, filter mud for organic fertiliser, and bagasse for steam and electricity co-generation.
FSC is encouraging interested parties to visit the project site and explore joint financing options.
All EOIs must be submitted by September 30, 2025.
