An area of Fiji’s game that was exposed by Wales on Monday was the poor backline defence that allowed a couple of soft tries through.
And Fiji Water Flying Fijians backline coach Daryl Gibson says it was “something unusual” with Semi Radradra and captain Waisea Nayacalevu manning the fort.
Wales were able to exploit some defensive frailties in the centres, which allowed George North through in the second.
Over chasing players and failing to read backline moves will be addressed before the big game against Australia next.
That’s the big news on the front page of The Fiji Times for Wednesday, September 13.
The other story is about the revelation that major refurbishment works at the Prime Minister’s Muanikau residence in 2017 and 2018 cost the state $3.5 million, an increase from the initial cost of $2.4m approved by Government Tender Board.
