Children are abandoned and forgotten when a large number of Fijians leaving our shores for work start new relationships abroad. Consultant Marica Tabualevu said this while calling for measures that will hold people responsible or accountable in such situations. She said adults who engage in such behaviour forget they have children “left behind with no income or very little parental support” just because they do not want their partner anymore. That’s the big news on the front page of The Fiji Times’ edition for Tuesday, June 20.

The second story on the front page is about former PM Voreqe Bainimarama and suspended police commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho and their cases in court. The charges against Mr Bainimarama have been lowered to perverting the course of justice.
