From Tailevu to the world | Ravai’s dreams become reality

For Peter Charles Ravai, a young lad from Tailevu, the dream of playing professional football has become a reality through years of dedication, family support, and a burning passion for the game.

“I joined my local team, Sportverein Eintracht (SVE) Bad Fallingbostel, before being scouted by Hamburger Sport Verein,” he said.

“When my family moved to the UK, I earned a scholarship with Maidstone United, which plays in the National League.”

With football running in the family, his father played for Tailevu-Naitasiri and his older brother also took to the pitch, he found inspiration to push harder.

A major turning point came when he represented Fiji in the U20 World Cup.

Following the tournament, Chris Cahill, brother of Australian football legend Tim Cahill, reached out to overseas clubs on his behalf. Gulf United in the UAE showed interest and, after a successful trial, offered him a deal to play full-time professional football.

“Signing for Gulf United is a huge step in my career.”

Reflecting on the moment he signed; he said he could not wait to share the news with his mum.

“I called my mum immediately. She was so happy and emotional; it felt like all our sacrifices were finally paying off.”

His family remains his driving force.

“They stood by me when others doubted me.

“Representing Fiji on the world stage opened doors and gave me opportunities I’d never imagined.”

With unwavering commitment and a heart full of gratitude, he now encourages others to chase their dreams.

From Tailevu to the world, his journey is an inspiration for aspiring local footballers.
