Non-communicable disease (NCD) is a silent killer, says Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) co-deputy chair and Tui Namosi Ratu Suliano Matanitabua.
Speaking during the JP Bayly Trust NCD Screening launch in Suva recently, he commended the Trust for launching this initiative saying the program will support underprivileged families across Fiji.
“The trust has launched a vital program to provide free NCD screening services with a specific focus on hypertension and diabetes,” Ratu Suliano said.
He said these were the most widespread and deadly NCDs in our nation.
“This program directly supports one of the key policies under the iTaukei Affairs segment of Fiji’s National Development Plan which aims to introduce wellness programs and include traditional indigenous games to help combat NCDs among indigenous people.”
