FOUR local football coaches have been selected to attend the A licence coaching course from Fiji.
The Fiji national senior men’s assistant coach Kamal Swamy, Rewa’s Marika Rodu, Imdad Ali from Ba and Fiji U17 coach Shalendra Lal have been selected for the course. This was announced by the Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel during a press conference at Fiji FA headquarters in Vatuwaqa yesterday.
“I would like everyone know that Fiji FA does not only stop with the players (interms of opportunities and exposure),” Patel said.
“For the first time we will be sending four coaches for the A licence course.
“Marika Rodu has been chosen as one of them. There are very limited B licence coaches in Fiji and Ravinesh Kumar (Fiji FA technical director) is the only one in Fiji, who has the A licence in Fiji.
“They have qualified in B licence and it is not that we pick and choose.
“If you complete your B licence and contribute towards Fiji FA then we will take you all the way to get A licence.”
Patel confirmed he would be present in Tahiti in March to see Rewa play in the 2017 OFC Champions League.
“My executive meeting from Oceania has been postponed as I was supposed to be there during the under-17 FIFA World Cup qualification,” he said.
“This means I will be present in Tahiti to see Rewa play in the OFC Champions League.
“I will be in Tahiti to make sure my district team Rewa is represented well and they make us proud.”
