Former Navua football players are standing behind their district team at the 2025 BiC Fiji FACT tournament that will start on Friday in Suva.
This was according to former Navua football star Penaia Latianara who was part of the 2003 Fiji FACT winning team.
2003 was also the last time that Navua got its hand on the coveted Fiji FACT trophy.
Latianara and other former players are led by Tui Namosi, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua, who is also a former star of Navua football.
“The Tui Namosi is behind the team as well as we, the former Navua soccer players. The team is camping in one villa in Pacific Harbour. Sunday I was there with the team.
“This year the message from the Tui Namosi is we will get the Cup this year. So, to the Navua boys and the entire team, give it your best, the vanua of Namosi and Serua are hopeful, and we believe that the Cup we once won in 2003 will return to Navua,” Latianara said.
Navua is drawn in Pool A with Rewa, Ba and defending champion, Lautoka.
It is dubbed as the pool of death, but Latianara remains optimistic that Navua will do wonders in the tournament.
Navua will battle Lautoka in its first match on Friday at 2.30pm.
All matches will be held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva from Friday to Sunday.
The semi-finals and final will be held from June 7-8 at the same venue.
