FORMER Fiji athlete Lui Muavesi has brought hope to talented athletes dreaming to excel in the sporting field.
Through the Reagan Milstein Foundation, he is ready to give back to the community he once fought for on the tracks.
Muavesi is a former 800 metres national champion who won medals in the South Pacific Games.
He also represented the country in other international competitions including the Olympic Games.
The Reagan Milstein Foundation was formed in 2010 and has assisted a number of initiatives and programs to help less fortunate children in Australia, Tonga, Vanuatu, Vietnam and many other countries.
The foundation was formed in memory of Reagan Milstein, who passed away from the injuries sustained in a scuba diving accident in 2010, aged 14.
Muavesi said they were looking forward to help less fortunate clubs, in any sport, in Fiji.
“We will be providing grants worth $A10,000 each to those clubs who are in need and cannot afford basic items like uniforms,” Muavesi, who now resides in Tonga, said.
“The items that will be covered in the grant include training and playing gear which includes jerseys, boots and other items.
“We are inviting clubs that are in genuine need to contact us.”
