Forestry Minister Osea Naiqamu and his team took charge of clearing the Labasa -Nabouwalu Highway in the wake of Severe Tropical Cyclone Yasa.
Villagers assisted the team in clearing fallen trees at the Nakadrudru Bridge in Lekutu, Bua and along the highway.
A landmark rain tree that used to tower over the bridge fell onto it, damaged the railings and caused a major setback for traffic.
Mr Naiqamu said it was important to get road access back as soon as possible.
“This is our normal operation and we are carrying it out to assist members of the public since TC Yasa has passed,” he said.
Mr Naiqamu’s team also assisted in clearing debris from a major landslide close to Vunivau, Bua.
