The Western Force are expecting a tough battle against the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s round nine Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific clash at Churchill Park in Lautoka this afternoon.

Head coach Simon Cron acknowledged the challenge that awaits his side, describing the Drua as a dangerous outfit on home soil.

“I think the Drua are an amazing side, full of talent. It’s going to be a big challenge for us out at Lautoka, but we’re excited to be here and looking forward to the game,” Cron said.

Cron added that the focus before kick-off would be on mental preparation.

“For us, it’s about getting the boys prepared and ready to go. Everything between now and then is a mental game, getting ourselves in the right space to play.”

Meanwhile, Force captain Jeremy Williams echoed his coach’s sentiments, saying the team is ready for the contest.

“We’re excited to get out there and play the Drua. We’ve had a really good week of preparation and we’re looking forward to testing ourselves against a strong Drua side.”

Williams said playing in Lautoka comes with its own challenges, particularly with the passionate home support and travel demands.

“The Drua love playing here and the crowd really gets behind them. Travel and weather conditions also come into play, but we’re excited.”
