Fong appointed CEO of ATH Group

Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Ltd (ATH) has appointed Ivan Fong as its CEO.

Currently employed with Kacific Broadband Satellites, Mr Fong has vast experience in the telecommunications sector, having worked in the industry for more than 28 years.

According to ATH, 18 of those years were in leadership roles at Telecom Fiji Limited, ATH Group, and Kacific.

Mr Fong also served as an executive of the Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association (PITA) from 2002, and subsequently elected president from 2010 to 2016.

During his previous tenure at ATH Group, he held the position of chairman at Vodafone Samoa, BlueSky American Samoa, and Vodafone Vanuatu, and served as a director at Vodafone PNG, Vodafone Cook Islands, and Vodafone Kiribati.

Mr Fong holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia; and a Master of Business Administration from Deakin University.

Mr Fong’s appointment comes into effect on July 24.

The group also announced the appointment of Abilash Ram as the chief finance officer, effective from September 14, 2023.

Mr Ram has more than 14 years of work experience, including roles in audit and assurance at external audit firms, and a significant commercial experience working with Fijian Holdings Limited.

He also serves as a board director of Pacific Green Limited and Fiji Television Limited, and several other FHL subsidiary companies.

Mr Ram has held leadership positions at FHL, including CFO and Acting CEO of FHL Group from December 2019 to March 2021.

He is a qualified chartered accountant with the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants and a full member of CPA Australia (CPA).

According to ATH, the appointments were made after a rigorous selection process.

“They possess the necessary leadership skills to steer ATH towards continued growth and success in a rapidly evolving market,” the group stated.
