Nasinu Town Council’s new chairperson is optimistic about the council’s plans to benefit the residents.
Felix Magnus yesterday said the municipal council’s officials were scheduled to have their first meeting with the acting CEO to plan development initiatives.
“And from there we shall build, but coming in as the new councillors, there’s a lot of potentials,” Mr Magnus said.
“We will be working closely with the different wards, the seven wards, so we will be working in collaboration with them and the communities.”
Mr Magnus said they aimed to empower youths, minorities and women’s groups through small and medium enterprises.
He said communities would be empowered to look after and maintain their own wards.
“We lack the facilities, but if we can inspire that civic pride in everyone then the onus is on them to contribute themselves.
“We’ll also be working very closely with the business community and developers.”
Mr Magnus said Nasinu would work towards major developments in the coming years.
“So, in terms of these developments happening, we want to see what these developments have for the residents of Nasinu.
“In terms of employment, forming partnerships with landowners, with local residents, and seeing how best that, on the overall perspective, Nasinu becomes a friendly and sustainable place for residents.”
