The Coalition Government is focused on providing the best health facilities. This was reiterated by Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad during his visit to the Nadi Hospital last week.

“We have started upgrading all the health centres and if you notice, a lot of work is being done right from Vanua Levu, Kadavu, Korovou, Nausori and also in the Western Division,” he said.

Prof Prasad said they were addressing some of the immediate priorities in the health sector.

“We have also allocated additional funding to have more nursing aid and nursing assistant, so that nurses can concentrate on their clinical side.

“We also have a specific funding within the budget for the procurement of consumables and equipment.

“We do not want situations previously where the X-ray machines were not working.”

Prof Prasad said he was aware of a lot of complaints about the long waiting lines at the hospital and actions had to be taken to address it.

The Finance Minister had an extensive travel in the Western Division last week, holding public consultations and project site visitations.
