The Fiji Medical Association (FMA) has announced the resignation of its president, Dr Alipate Vakamocea, citing personal commitments.

In a statement, the association acknowledged Dr Vakamocea’s service and leadership, thanking him for his contributions toward advancing the organisation’s mission and supporting the medical profession in Fiji.

“Dr Vakamocea has provided dedicated service during his tenure, and we extend our sincere gratitude for his efforts,” the FMA said.

Dr Ronal Kumar will take over as Acting President with immediate effect, leading the association until its next elections scheduled for August 2026.

The FMA expressed confidence in Dr Kumar’s ability to guide the organisation through the transition while maintaining its focus on professional standards, advocacy, and member support.

“The Association remains committed to serving its members and the people of Fiji, and looks forward to continued collaboration and engagement under Dr Kumar’s stewardship,” the statement said.
