VIKASH Chand says he has lost close to 200 dalo plants because of frequent flooding in Salua St, Nakasi.

In an interview with this newspaper yesterday, he said constant floods had damaged most of his agricultural produce.

“We planted close to 200 dalo suckers but the rain came and damaged all of it including our small bean and okra plants,” he said.

“It’s very difficult for us because we want to plant produce but due to poor drainage, it just gets damaged every time there is heavy rain.”

Mr Chand said residents had made numerous requests to authorities to look into the issue.

“We have asked but everything seems to be the same and nothing has changed ever since we moved here.

“Even those who have lived here longer than us say that they have faced the same issue.”
