Several roads in the Northern Division are closed as floodwaters continues to rise following heavy rainfall, catching commuters off guard and disrupting normal travel.
In Vunimoli, people heading to work early this morning were taken by surprise when floodwaters quickly covered sections of the road, making it impassable to both vehicles and pedestrians.
Many workers were forced to turn back, while others were left waiting as water levels continued to rise. A resident, Wane Mala, said the situation remained worrying as the water showed no signs of receding.
“The water level continues to increase,” Mr Mala said.
Authorities are urging members of the public to avoid flooded roads, use alternative routes where possible, and exercise extreme caution as weather conditions remain unsettled.
Motorists have been reminded not to attempt crossing flooded areas due to strong currents and the risk of damage to road surfaces.
Residents in low-lying areas have also been advised to stay alert and be prepared to move to higher ground should conditions worsen.
