A flash flood warning is now in force for the whole of Fiji, following an upgrade from an earlier alert as weather conditions continue to deteriorate.
According to the Fiji Meteorological Service, a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and persistent rain remains active over the Fiji Group, increasing the risk of flash flooding.
Tide levels are also expected to influence coastal and low-lying areas.
In Lautoka, the high tide is forecast to reach 1.62 metres at 2.37pm.
In Suva, the high tide is expected to be 1.54 metres at 3.26pm.
The main hazard is flash flooding caused by isolated heavy falls.
Impacts may include flooding in drainage systems, small streams, low-water bridges, Irish crossings, roads and properties, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
The public is advised to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel through flooded areas, and follow instructions from relevant authorities as heavy rain continues across the country.
