The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi has placed the entire Fiji group under a flash flood alert.

According to the centre, an active trough of low pressure continues to hover over the region, bringing widespread cloud, showers and rain that are expected to persist for the next several days.

The bulletin warns that isolated heavy rain may trigger flash flooding, with guidance sourced from the Fiji Flash Flood Guidance System, rainfall forecast models and weather radar data.

Likely impacts include flooding of drains, small streams and low-lying watercourses.

There will be inundation of low-water bridges and Irish crossings.

Flooding of roads and properties in low-lying or flood-prone areas is also possible.

Authorities are advising the public to remain cautious, avoid flooded crossings, and stay updated with the latest advisories from the Fiji Meteorological Service as conditions may worsen with little warning.
