A flash flood alert is in force for the whole of Fiji as weather conditions continue to pose a risk of flooding, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
According to the Fiji Meteorological Service, an active trough of low pressure with associated clouds and rain is expected to affect the country from the west later today.
Authorities have warned that isolated heavy rain could trigger flash flooding, especially in areas with poor drainage.
The main hazard identified is flash flooding caused by intense rainfall over short periods.
Potential impacts include flooding of drainage systems, small streams, Irish crossings, low water bridges, roads and properties in low-lying areas.
Members of the public are advised to remain vigilant, avoid flooded areas, and exercise caution when travelling, particularly during periods of heavy rain.
