A flash flood is in force for the eastern half of Viti Levu — covering Serua–Namosi through Navua–Suva–Nausori to Tailevu–Naitasiri–Ra, including Rakiraki — as well as the Northern Division.
The Fiji Meteorological Service says a trough of low pressure to the northeast continues to drift south and is expected to affect the country over the coming days, bringing periods of isolated heavy rain.
According to the Fiji Flash Flood Guidance System, rainfall forecast models and weather radar data, the main hazard is flash flooding triggered by intense, isolated downpours.
Communities in low-lying areas are advised to remain alert, with potential flooding in drains, small streams, low water bridges, Irish crossings, roads and properties. Authorities urge the public to monitor updates and take necessary precautions.
This alert has come into effect at 5am today.
