FIVE senior Fijian Women Police Officers attended the 2019 Australasian Council of Women and Policing (ACWAP) Conference in Canberra last week.
The ACWAP Conference theme “Collaboration – the future belongs to us” saw more than five hundred delegates from over 20 countries focus on how law enforcement responds to women in the communities they serve and how leadership can be strengthened especially for women, according to the Australian Federal Police.
Attending the conference on behalf of the Fiji Police Force was Superintendent of Police Loraini Seru (SP) and Assistant Superintendent’s of Police (ASP) Eseta Dumukoro, ASP Amelia Rokotuivuna, ASP Devika Narayan and ASP Aseri Nakibo.
According to the Australian Federal Police website, the delegates will hear from representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the UK’s Metropolitan Police and the Singapore Police Force who will share their insights on supporting women in law enforcement and other community protection roles.
ASP Dumukoro said the conference was a great opportunity to network with other senior women officers from around the globe and learn best practices that could be adopted by the Fiji Police Women’s Network.
