THE head of the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) intelligence unit, Osea Raicama Dakai, will take his plea on July 28.

Mr Dakai, who was represented by lawyer Simione Valenitabua, appeared at the High Court in Lautoka yesterday in relation to the importation of more than 4.8 kilograms of methamphetamine discovered at the Nadi International Airport on May 16, 2025.

He appeared before Justice Aruna Aluthge, charged with one count of unlawful importation of illicit drugs and one count of Breach of Secrecy Oath under the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service Act 1998.

Prosecutor Zenrith Zunaid said the State would be filing the consolidated information in this matter.

He said they had given the defence lawyers a draft of the consolidated information.

“The only issue that we are looking at, at this stage, is to ensure there is no duplicity,” Mr Zunaid said.

“We should have the independent HIC information and the consolidation information within the next three days.”

Mr Zunaid said disclosures had been served to the defence lawyer.

He also said the State had submitted four volumes to the High Court registry.

“We could expect more in due course,” Mr Zunaid said.

Also charged in relation to this case were two Counter Narcotics Bureau officers, Apenisa Matadigo and Uraia Bolalailai, and suspended police officers, Are Tania, Viliame Nalagi, including Nigerian national Chukwemeka Phabian and Fiji Airways driver Neumi Donumainasava.

Mr Tania, Mr Matadigo, and Mr Nalagi were also in court yesterday for the charge of unlawful possession of an illicit drug.

Mr Matadigo also faces a charge of possession of property believed to be proceeds of crime for the $470 in cash found on him.

They will also take their plea on July 28.
