FIVE new players have been drafted into the national football training squad to prepare for the Oceania Football Confederation third stage qualifiers next year for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
They are Nikhil Chand, Setareki Hughes, Tevita Waranivalu, Akuila Mataisuva and Gabriele Matanisiga. Fiji Football Association vice-president Tarunesh Reddy said the 25-member team would march into camp in Ba on January 8.
Reddy said the squad would stay in camp for two weeks. He said Lautoka coach Kamal Swamy would be in charge of the team.
Fiji will host New Zealand on March 20 in the next stage then face New Zealand away on March 28.
Fiji’s next home match will be against New Caledonia on June 5.
