YOUNG talents were on full display at the 2025 Fiji Bitter Yalovata Lomaiviti 7s tournament, which took place at Nasau Park in Levuka last weekend.

The event spanned two action-packed days (Friday, Saturday) in the historic old capital of Fiji, showcasing the best of grassroots rugby.

Standing out among the competitors was the youthful Village Boys team, who emerged victorious as the tournament champions following a thrilling 15-12 win against Kava Vacalea in the final match.

Team captain Beniamino Ratu reflected on the team’s journey, expressing his gratitude to the players for their dedication and hard work.

He emphasised the importance of working smart and collaboratively on the field, which ultimately led to their success in Levuka.

“First of all, I like to thank the almighty, for being part of our life throughout our journey,” said Ratu.

“I told the boys from the quarter-final till the final, we must work smart on the field, and work together, that’s the way we can get the win.

“I like to thank the boys for putting in their 100 per-cent, and their dedication through-out our preparations, and also their fighting spirit that got us the win in Levuka.”

Ratu also took a moment to acknowledge the upcoming journey of one of their players, Josefa, who secured a rugby contract in Georgia.

“We have one player Josefa also that will be going to Georgia next week, for a rugby contract, we like to congratulate him, and his journey ahead.

He also highlighted the challenges the team currently faces, particularly the need for sponsorship to support their development and growth.

“The challenges we face right now, is having a sponsor, so we are asking for a sponsor to come and help this young team, Village boys’ team.”

Ratu expressed his gratitude to the team, their families, supporters, and fans for their unwavering support since day one.

Meanwhile in other results, Axellerate Aflame Brothers claimed the U21 title defeating Bureta 17-12, while Sinukakala won the womens beating Tagimoucia Ranadi 20-5.
