VILIAME Takayawa Sr and Simione Kuruvoli were the first judokas to represent Fiji at the Olympic Games and it was at the 1984 Los Angeles Games. Fiji’s flag bearers at the 1984, 1992, 2004 and 2012 Games have all come from judo. This year, Fiji’s judoka at the games would be Josateki Naulu. Naulu is also a recipient of the Olympic Scholarships for Athletes “Rio 2016” program. He has been based in Japan and participated in IJF tournaments in Europe and at the Oceania Championships where he qualified for Rio. He will compete in the 81kg category and is coached by Takashi Iwasaki and has Huzo Matsumoto as his training partner
