FIJI lightweight boxer Mohamed Ali has stepped-in as a last-minute replacement for Jese Ravudi against Sunny Morini from New Zealand for tonight’s Stratum Construction ZEG Kings Boxing Promotion at the Vodafone Arena.
Ali steps in after Ravudi withdrew from the title fight earlier this week.
He last fought on February 22 against Mikaele Ravalaca for the vacant lightweight title at the Bluewater Boxing Promotion in Suva. Ali lost by a second-round technical knockout (TKO)
Ali says he was offered the fight on Monday and has had little preparation time, but he promises to give his best tonight against his first international opponent.
“I’ll try my best, let see how long it goes. This will be my first international opponent, and I was called in last minute without any time for training.
“It’s going to be very hard, he will be bringing his best, but I’m Mohamed Ali and I will give my best fight too,” he said
When asked why he didn’t he refuse the last-minute offer, he said that he didn’t want to turn down his first opportunity to fight an overseas title.
