Air Terminal Services has honoured its long-service employees for their hard work, resilience and excellence.
Officiating at the event recently, Finance Minister Esrom Immanuel commended ATS staff for being the backbone of Fiji’s aviation and tourism industries.
“When the world needs seamless travel through Fiji, when passengers marvel at the efficiency, the smiles, the warm experiences, ATS is behind them all,” he said.
“From customer check-in, to the precise loading of baggage to cargo, from meticulous inflight catering to aircraft cleaning and preparing flights for take-off.
“Every second, every moment and every detail has a fingerprint of ATS staff.
“And you do this for world recognised airlines — Fiji Airways, QANTAS, Virgin Australia, Jet Star, Air New Zealand, Air New Guinea, Air Vanuatu and many other private jets.”
The minister acknowledged the staff for their contribution towards the economy which he described as crucial, critical, powerful and undeniable.
“Your work is often behind the scenes, unseen by the travelling public yet felt by every traveller, every family, every business and the nation as a whole.”
Fiji Airways managing director and CEO Paul Scurrah also acknowledged the incredible partnership between the national airline and ATS.
“Our work is intrinsically interconnected — when ATS performs with excellence, the entire Fiji Airways group shines,” Mr Scurrah said.
“Our passengers feel it, our teams feel it, and our brand is strengthened because of the work that you do on the ground.
“As Fiji Airways strives to become the world’s happiest airline — your role becomes even more important — happiness isn’t just created in the cabin or in the lounge or in 3500 feet. It’s here, on the ground with the very first touch point, very first smile, and the opportunity to care.”
Mr Scurrah also commended the long service staff.
“Your loyalty and contribution to help Fiji grow is much stronger, much more resilient, and much respected across the region,” he said.
