A fire destroyed the Fiji Sugar Corporation sector office in Tavua early this morning.
The blaze was reported shortly after 3am, prompting an emergency response from the National Fire Authority.
Eyewitnesses said firefighters arrived with two fire trucks and worked to contain the flames before the fire could spread further.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and investigations are expected to be carried out by both the National Fire Authority and Fiji Police Force.
The FSC sector office plays a vital role for sugarcane farmers. It serves as the first point of contact for growers, dealing with their grievances and welfare concerns.
The office also coordinates harvesting logistics and cane transportation, making it an important hub for the management of sugarcane operations within the sector.
FSC is expected to issue on the incident.
