Permanent Secretary Aliki Salusalu the recent delays stem from an unprecedented demand for passport services, coupled with the need to upgrade to meet International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) ePassport standards.

“Since the arrival of 30,000 new, upgraded passport booklets, the Ministry has launched a full-scale clearance plan, working around the clock to process all pending applications by mid-September 2025,” he said.

Enhanced procurement and stock monitoring systems are also being implemented to prevent future disruptions.
