SHAUN Edwards’ appointment with Argentina has removed one of the leading names linked to Fiji’s vacant head coach position as FRU prepares to confirm its preferred candidate next week.
The Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) is in negotiations with its preferred candidate for the FIJI Water Flying Fijians head coach position, with the appointment expected to be confirmed next week.
The union has completed its final shortlisting and interview process and is now working to finalise an agreement with the successful candidate.
The recruitment process attracted 31 applications, including coaches with experience in international rugby and leading professional competitions.
Former South Africa head coach Jake White and former Wales coach Warren Gatland remain among the prominent names linked to the position in media reports, although FRU has yet to officially identify its preferred candidate.
