THE final squad of the Fiji Airways Fiji men’s 7s team to the Singapore 7s will be named a week after the McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s.
Head coach Osea Kolinisau revealed this to the media following a training session at Albert Park in Suva on Tuesday.
Locked into the team’s itinerary before the final 12-member squad is named is a team being fielded into the tournament while other players will play for the McDonald’s Mike Friday Select 7s squad.
As for the players who will not get the nod for selection, Kolinisau says they still have work to do.
“The boys that are not playing will still do fitness,” Kolinisau said.
He has also voiced his intention of wanting to provide game exposure for the new players in the national side.
“A lot of the boys that played in the grassroots will play again at Coral Coast. It’s a good experience for them, especially the sides that are coming to the Coral Coast.”
He added the exposure would provide a favourable platform to test the new players against intense competition, especially from international teams taking part in the tournament.
The team regrouped this week following the Christmas and New Year break, when the team committed themselves to rigorous training following the first two legs of the series in Dubai and Cape Town, and dove back into it at Albert Park on Tuesday.
