Team Fiji tae kwon do athlete Venice Traill bowed out of the Olympic Games in Paris as a history maker.

She announced after her match on Saturday that this was her first and final Olympics appearance.

This as she transitions to coaching and supporting young athletes in their Olympic dreams.

The 27-year-old lost to Great Britain’s Rebecca McGowan who is ranked third in the world, with McGowan securing a 2-0 victory.

Traill has declared that this competition marks the end of her career as a player, with a newfound focus on training and mentoring emerging talents.

Expressing her enthusiasm for coaching and sports management, she plans to return home to Fiji and utilise existing programs to empower young athletes in their pursuit of Olympic success.

Trail aims to share her knowledge and experiences to guide aspiring athletes towards reaching their full potential.

“I am looking towards coaching and managing the sport of tae kwon do back when I go home,” said Trail.

“There are programmers in place where I can have this fulfilled. I’m so excited to go back and share whatever I’ve learned.”

Recognised for her dedication, she has been chosen as Fiji’s flag bearer alongside swimmer David Tolu Young for the closing ceremony,
