After a dominant contest against Nadi to go through to the final of the Skipper Cup last Saturday, Malolo will work on improving their discipline ahead of the grand final against Naitasiri this week.

The team won 31-19 over the men in navy blue to head into their first Skipper Cup final where they meet a determined team of Highlanders wanting to add another trophy to their cabinet of spoils.

Malolo head coach Rupeni Nasiga highlighted their discipline as a shortfall for his side and added work will be put in to minimise a lack of it before the final.

“I know one of our biggest weaknesses is discipline and I know we saw that in the game against Nadi, but we will improve on it,” Nasiga said.

Two yellow cards were copped for Malolo, one by Semisi Lave for repeated infringement and another by Josevata Natoga for dangerous play in a maul.

Nadi, on the other hand, had none.

Meanwhile for the winners, Nasiga highlighted how the team’s growth this season was driven by the faith they had in themselves and putting in the hard yards.

“There was a newfound sense of belief that took place since there were no notable names were in the team, the players believed in themselves from when they started playing until today when they made it to the final of the Skipper Cup,” he shared.

“One thing that it showed was that nothing was challenging, it was not about having notable names or anything else, but it was all about working hard.”

Meanwhile, the final against Naitasiri will be held this Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
