At just 15 years old, Anselm Coffin is making waves in the world of swimming as he competes in the U15-16 grades for the Great White Sharks swimming club at the 2023 Short Course Age Group Nationals that is currently taking place in Nadi.

With an unwavering passion for the sport, Coffin is quickly establishing himself as a formidable talent in the pool. Coffin’s journey into swimming began at a young age, and he found his strongest stroke in the challenging butterfly.

Attending Tilak High School, this young athlete not only excels in the water but also balances his passion for swimming with his studies.

Beyond the pool, Coffin has a diverse sporting repertoire.

He’s not only a swimmer but also a volleyball enthusiast.

He’s ultimate goal is to proudly represent Fiji on the international stage, a dream that drives his relentless training and commitment to the sport he loves.

“I love swimming because it’s the sport that uses all your muscles, keeps you active, and relaxes your brain,” Coffin explains.

His deep connection to the water and the pool’s serenity is what fuels his determination to excel.

What sets Coffin apart in the world of swimming is his affection for the challenging butterfly stroke.

He shares, “I love the butterfly stroke. I saw the stroke I wanted to learn. It is the harder stroke, but that is my strength.”

His unwavering commitment to mastering the butterfly stroke has already started to pay off.

Coffin’s recent achievements in the pool are a testament to his dedication and talent.

He clinched the gold in the 100m backstroke, secured gold in the relay, and earned a silver medal in the 400m freestyle.
