Day one of the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming concert attracted both local and international visitors and artists, showcasing Fiji as a vibrant destination for music and culture.

A long queue formed outside the entry gates before 3pm, creating a vibrant sea of excitement and anticipation.

International artists Lomez Brown, Junior Soqeta, Justin Wellinton, and Jaro Local opened the show, as the crowd joined in singing along with enthusiasm.

Despite the long wait, the crowd chanted and sang along to timeless hits by renowned Pacific Island artists JBoog and George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso, ending the night with many satisfied fans.

Meanwhile, Tourism Fiji CEO Brent Hill said such concerts not only boosted Fiji’s local economy but also showcased Fiji’s unique charm and friendliness.

“People travel to see their favourite artists, and we know that there are many tourists coming in from the Pacific Islands, Aotearoa, and Australia and even the US for this concert,” he said.

“So, we definitely encourage it and look forward to working with more promoters to continue to bring music acts to Fiji that contribute a lot to our economy and lifestyle.”

Minister for Tourism Viliame Gavoka said the concert also provided an excellent opportunity for our local businesses, from hospitality to retail, to benefit from the concertgoers.

“This event is not just a musical celebration but a significant milestone for Fiji’s tourism sector,” Mr Gavoka said.

“As our tourism industry continues to grow, hosting such high-profile events underscores our capability to provide world-class entertainment and cultural experiences.”

He added George Veikoso’s homecoming concert was particularly special as it celebrated the country’s rich cultural heritage and the global success of one of its own.

The two-day show will end today.
